The history of Madagascar during a century compacted at the Madagascar photo museum, in Andohalo
Uphill, in the old city of Antananarivo name Tana, the Madagascar Photo Museum is settled at the ex- mayor’s house of Antananarivo. This estate has been brilliantly renovated to become this chic and contemporary museum. Vintage pics of Antananarivo in the 18th – 20th centuries and further in the 17th century. The city and its “ordinary people” have changed! The life style and fashion (all in white, most of the time); the city’s architecture and the town planning are not the same anymore. Are they better or worse? The answer is up to you! Anyway, it’s sad but we can’t ignore that at that time, Tanà was pretty much cleaner and healthier to live!
You might prefer to match films at one the of the four documentary projection rooms or observing these old pics to understand the heart history of this great Island.
The Museum’s café led by a Malagasy chef is a nice place to taste local specialty.
